Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer NHS eye tests in Walsall?
Yes. Pleck Eye Care Centre provides NHS-funded eye tests for eligible patients — including under-16s, under-19s in full-time education, over-60s, people with diabetes or a family history of glaucoma, and those on qualifying benefits — as well as private eye examinations, at our practice on Wednesbury Road, Walsall.
What is an OCT scan, and can I have one at Pleck Eye Care Centre?
Yes — we offer OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scanning. An OCT scan takes a detailed cross-section image of the back of your eye — the same technology used in hospital eye departments — helping detect early signs of glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye changes, often before symptoms appear.
Do you see patients with diabetes?
Yes. We provide diabetic eye screening and welcome patients with diabetes for routine eye examinations, OCT scanning and advice.
Do you offer myopia control for children?
Yes. Alongside relaxed, friendly children’s eye tests (NHS-funded for most children), we offer Essilor Stellest® lenses, designed to help slow the progression of short-sightedness (myopia) in children and teenagers.
Can I get an urgent or emergency eye appointment in Walsall?
Yes. If you have a sudden eye problem — such as a painful red eye, flashes and floaters, or sudden changes in vision — call us promptly on 01922 616141 and we will arrange an urgent appointment where clinically needed.
